Happy 25th Birthday, Me!

I officially turn a year older as of today. When asked of my age, no longer will I be able to cling to that early-twenties nonsense. Now I am a mid-twenties, young woman. Haha! Me. Mid-twenties. Woman. And still measure 5 feet (debatable) 1 inch vertically. Don't think I got any smarter after all my master degree studying. I wonder if my age will make people take me more seriously? I mean, wisdom and respect comes with old age right? Or was it arrogance and outdated-ness?

Well, I am not as bitter about gaining a year. Reason being, either I am too busy with my final exams and assignments or I have miraculously matured. The former is probably a safer bet.

Nothing interesting happened today. No surprise there. If there is an index out there that measures the level of pathetic-ness of birthdays,  mine would no doubt be right one of the top 100s.

#1. Selfie to commemorate the day I turn 25.

Best thing about birthdays is that it gives me the excuse to be lazy, spent thrift and authoritative. Within this 24 hour time limit every year, I am always right. I get to beg out of homework. And I get to spend money I don't have.

Therefore, I got myself a present!

#2. Two Bobbi Brown lipstick and one lip liner!

Very legit. Had it all gift wrapped (it's free anyway) and even wrote a message adressed to my nickname from my alter ego. At least the person packaging my gift and printing my message won't know I am this shameless. Feeling very sneaky and clever indeed.

I've been having this obsession with lipsticks.

I have difficulty finding the right natural lipstick color that matches my skin and lip tone. Some of my failed attempts include lipsticks from such as Shu Uemura, Sephora, and Nivea.

#3. Shu Uemura Rogue Unlimited Supreme Shine SS Orange 520 lipstick. Why the hell is the name so god damn long? And I don't know what SS stands for, so don't ask me.

#4. Sephora's No. 25 Pink Teaser - pink shimmer. Too red for me. And too glittery for daily wear.

#5. Nivea Soft Rose lip balm. This doesn't count since it's not even lipstick.

The closest I got is when I came across Bobby Brown.

#6. Bobbi Brown 'Pale Pink.'

'Pale Pink' is my first Bobby Brown purchase. This color is too light for my lip's natural color but I don't regret purchasing it. This lipstick not only has the matte color that I desire, but it is also creamy and moisturizing. With a red lip liner, the colors blends together nicely and changes into this nice shade of pink (as seen in my pic #1).

My two recent lipstick purchase is currently in Nashville.

#7. I wish it gets here before Thanksgiving.

Being one of the world's most impatient people, I've been tracking its shipment status every hour (as if that's gonna speed up the process). Well, my package better gets here by tomorrow night or I might start throwing  a tantrum. It won't look pretty with me being 25 and all.

One Year Later..

Even as a graduate student, I am a procrastinator. I wanted to avoid studying for my midterm, so I went through all apps I have on my iPad. When i came across my Blogger app, I was curious as to see when I last updated. Unsurprisingly, my procrastination skill has not dull one bit. I am still writing my blog posts once every year.

The funny thing is I have at least four to six unfinished drafts throughout the year that will never be posted. They usually only consists of a title and a few errant thoughts of what I wanted to write.  At least I am not the only one who has not been updating. 90% of my friends have abandoned their blogs in 2012. Those with actual readers, such as Audrey Ooi, Timothy Tiah, Suet Li, are of the minority now.

I am not going to say the number of my posts will improve. According to my sis, I have the habit of not doing something after saying it (or in this case, written it) out loud. Her theory is, once I've talked about it, I felt like I have DONE something and would not actually do it. Confusing, but a very accurate observation of my character.

I miss blogging. I started this blog with the intention of having a diary, but I did not take my laziness into account. Last night I was thinking, "I need an app that functions as a diary without having to do much work." And viola! Audrey Ooi just wrote a post about an app, Dayre.

#1. My newly made account. I registered about 5 minutes ago.

According to Audrey aka fourfeetnine, this is a faster, shorter version of blogging. A place where she can register her random thoughts that did not seem to have a place in her long blog post.

As per her recommendation, I am gonna give it a try. Let's see how long my fascination over this new app will last.

Summer Vacation

Yay! I'm finally leaving for New York tomorrow! Feeling a little nervous. Heart beating really fast. Anticipation? Excitement? Both?

I am almost done packing. Oh~ the horror of packing. *shivers

I just need some clothes that are currently being washed, then I'm done (I hate packing!). While I wait for my clothes to dry, I am indulging in a glass of ice cold Lychee my aunt made.

#1.

Watching Korean drama with a chilled beverage in hand equals to my temporary heaven.

For those who are curious, I'm currently watching "Can't You Hear My Heart?" I'm half way done with this K-drama and so far, I'm digging the storyline. It has several of those squeal-inducing romantic moments that I love so much, which makes the drama that much more interesting!

Maybe I'll even write reviews on some of my favorite K-dramas.

I'll talk more about it when I have time. Gotta finish packing and sleep now. My aunt wants to be at the airport at 8am, and it is 3:25am now. Yikes! Good night!

Ennui

I have done nothing but loitered around Coastland Mall these past few weeks.

I waste most my time doing some mindless shopping for things I know I don't need. But I always seem to have an excuse for buying something.

This time, my excuse is, I'm leaving for New York soon. Bearing in mind that I need a new wardrobe change, I walked in almost every store in the mall at least 3 times a week looking for something to buy.

Found some interesting products at a store called Francesca's Collections.

 #1.

I've walked in this store countless of times, and after giving their products a cursory glance, I would walk right out.

Today I had a lot of time. So, I examined the entire store from one end to the other.

 #2. Journals.

I almost bought the "I Can't Sleep" journal since I'm unusually nocturnal.

#3. Inside of "I Can't Sleep" journal.

One side with quotes, the other for you to write why you can't sleep. At the bottom, it says, "when tomorrow officially becomes today," with four different boxes for you to check -- an clock that points at 3o'clock,a bird singing, sunrise, an alarm clock ringing at 6:35 -- to indicate which stage of insomnia you are currently in.

Same goes for the "In My Humble Opinion" journal. A "Why people are like that today" on top and four check boxes -- thumbs up, peace sign, thumbs down, fingers crossed -- for "Today's definitive conclusion about humanity" at the bottom.

#4. "Common sense is not so common." Can I get a Amen.

This one was sorely tempting too. I have a lot of opinions to dish out but I didn't want to risk someone reading the contents of it.

Other products were intriguing but not practical.

#5. Insults & Comebacks and Cliches & Platitudes.

The content of Insults & Comebacks was amusing enough. Some were downright mean. Unless you are arguing with your worst enemy (or you're just a bitch), its content probably could get you into a lot of trouble.

I was chuckling as I read the book because I kept imagining myself referring back to the book for insults and comebacks during an ongoing argument; very anticlimactic.

#6. Vouchers.

I liked Friend Vouchers booklets the best. They were very well made; very much like a real check book. I can see myself signing one and giving it to my BFFs.

#7.

#8. It has fine print too.

#9. Always wanted a stylus pen. Might go back to buy this if I really need one.

#10. Bookmark Pad.

This one is pretty cool too. Sucks that the bookmark is made out of paper.

In the end, I did buy something.

#11. Bought a "Make A Decision" pad.

Just because I suck at decisions and I thought this might help.

#12. "Pack This!" pad.

This I bought because I really need it. Whenever I go on a trip, I write a list of things I need to pack. This list is so much more thorough; it lists almost everything a person would think of packing when traveling.

#13.

One would think I would have bought this as well since I mentioned a wardrobe change. But "What To Wear" list is useless to me since all I ever wear are my work clothes during the weekdays and pretty much the same outfit during my one off-day of the week.

Anyway, I've become very frugal these days. I want expensive looking tops and shorts that cost no more than $20; even a $10 top I would rethink four times.

Hopefully I will stumble into a store that sell cheap, nice looking clothes before I leave for New York!

New Laptop

I have finally purchased a new.. err, used laptop! Wohoo!!

#1. New Sony laptop. It's pink =.="

Technically, it's a secondhand laptop that I bought over from one of my cousins. This new baby is only about 2 years old. Compared to my ancient 6 years old Acer that does not even have an Intel Core processor, this laptop is like a gift from above.

Now that I have a laptop that doesn't crash on me every few seconds, I can finally return to blogging. During my laptop-less days, I have been able to connect with the cyber world -- Facebook-ing, web surfing -- on my iPad but blogging just isn't the same without the physical touch of an actual keyboard.(Or, as my sister will have no problem pointing out, maybe I was just lazy *shrugs)

So, here I am, typing away on my new laptop after 6 months. Please look forward to blog posts that are sure to come in the very near future. *winks

Christmas 2011

Ah~ Christmas this year. All I can say is, it was not as interesting as last year's.

I had to work the whole day again, but unlike last year, there weren't that many customers. The day practically crawled by. I blame the recession.

The only exciting thing that happened was the presents I received from my aunt and cousins.

My aunt gave me this cute Target gift card.

#1. Really cute! Its beard and hair are made out of velvet!!

No idea how much the gift card has (forgot to ask), but I really appreciate it! Thanks Aunty Tracy!

My cousins' gift was a little amusing at my expense.

#2. Angry Bird's pig

Yup. I got the pig from that famous Angry Bird game. They were trying to 'subtly' indicate something about my character in real life by giving me this pig instead of the Angry Bird. An insult to my character I tell you! *bangs fist on table

But since it is so adorable, I will let this thinly-veiled insult slide. *folds arm with nose in the air Lol!! Thanks Jamie & Haru!

Right now I'm trying to come up with a name for my alter ego, a.k.a. the pig.

For the past few days, my Spanish co-workers and I have been putting our heads together and this was what we came up with:

#3. List of potential names.

In Spanish, 'Feo' means ugly, and 'Gordo' means fat. I was told that 'Paco' is like an endearing name for little boys.

I really like Milo and Feo. But I don't want to be calling my pig ugly. So, I'm deciding between Milo and Gordo.

If you come up with any cuter or nicer names, let me know. I will put your suggestions into consideration.

Merry Christmas, everybody and a happy new year!

p/s: It has been decided that my pig is a male, so no female names please.

I'm back.. and I hope I'm here to stay

Whoa~ I have been away for a year now, give or take.

You can't blame me though. My last post was about Christmas. So, if i were to follow my blogging tradition, my next post would have been a recap of that particular year.

And let me tell you, it is a pain in the ass to write that post! Takes me days (literally) to write it.

A few days after that Christmas post, I told myself, "I'll write the 2010 recap year post later. Promise!" But 'later' always seem to come too soon. So, i kept putting it off, and without realizing it, 'later' became a year.

Well, at least I'm back now. I'm not going to torture my readers, or what's left of it, by going into every little detail of my oh-so-interesting life stories. No. I'll do a short recap of what has happened over the year instead. See how nice I'm being.

Now, let's see:
- I went to L.A. for 10 days
- Attended IMTA (International Model & Talent Association), a convention where Ashley Greene, Ashton Kutcher, etc. were scouted by managers and agencies
- Won 2 medals for best monologue and cold reading (among the top 10% of the contestants)
- Won a trophy for best actress award (among the top 10% of the contestants )
- I graduated from FGCU this Spring
- I turned 23
- I went back to Malaysia for four months over the summer
- Danny and I got to celebrate our sixth year anniversary together after 4 years of half-way-across-the-world-over-the-phone celebration
- I'm back in the United States, again
- I've got a new awesome phone
- I'm working at a sushi restaurant for now to pay back my student loan and credit card debts, and
- I'm studying for my GRE

I know. My life is a bore. You guys didn't miss much. Let's just hope it gets more interesting hence forth because I just discovered this new blogger app, and I have a pretty good feeling that you will be seeing you more often.

Fingers crossed.
